Civic Engagement a Priority for ZEESMAN

BONNIE NIJST ELECTED TO THE BOARD OF THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF LOS ANGELES EDUCATION FUND

President and CEO tapped for her expertise in nonprofit, branding and marketing.

LOS ANGELES, January 28, 2011 – ZEESMAN, one of the nation’s leading brand strategy and marketing firms, today announced that its President and CEO Bonnie Nijst, has been named to the board of the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles Education Fund. Nijst was recruited to the board for her expertise in nonprofit, branding and marketing. The Education Fund is responsible for developing the funding support for the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles educational programs and activities.

“I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles Education Fund to bring new perspectives on evolving the organization and attracting the next generation of members,” said Nijst. “The League exemplifies ZEESMAN’s long-standing commitment to civic engagement that started with our work for Carol Baker Tharp at USC’s Civic Engagement Initiative. “

In addition to managing ZEESMAN, Ms. Nijst is a passionate contributor to the local business community. She is past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and past vice chair of the NAWBO-LA Foundation, the organization’s 501 (c)(3). She currently serves on the board of the California Family Health Council and on the advisory board of the Barco’s Nightingales Foundation. She is also chair of the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee of the Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council.
